Rev. Mike Davis
"Father Mike"

A Little Biography from Your Pastor

Born on April 16, 1961, I am the son of Gary and Arlene Wahls Davis, and have a younger sister, Jean-Marie, who is "happily single," so she says. One of few priests who hail from Chester County, I grew up in Thorndale, a small village near Downingtown. Feeling a desire to be a priest since the age of 7, I graduated from Bishop Shanahan High School in June 1979, and entered St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in September of 1979. Within a bit less than a month after my entering the seminary, the newly elected Pope John Paul II visited Philadelphia on October 3 and 4. Ordained a priest on May 16, 1987, I began priestly ministry as an Assistant Pastor of Maternity B.V.M. Church in Bustleton, and found this first assignment a wonderful place to "be broken in." While I have been a parish priest for more than 17 years, I was a teacher at Bishop Kenrick High School, Norristown, and was the School Minister at St. Maria Goretti High School, Philadelphia, for 5 years combined. Of the more than 17 years in parish ministry, I have been a Parochial Vicar (the new term for Assistant Pastor) for a bit more than 12 years.

Prior to Cardinal Rigali's appointing me your Pastor on May 15, I was Parochial Administrator of Queen of Peace, Ardsley. On April 16, 2004, Cardinal Rigali appointed me the first Pastor of Divine Mercy Parish, Philadelphia, and prior to that I had served as the Parochial Administrator of Holy Cross, Springfield, and of St. Alice, Upper Darby. I truly believe St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, is where God wants me to be at this time in my life. I am grateful to Father Larry for his leadership and healing presence among you. He has definitely inspired you to see yourselves as treasures of this parish, the "Jewel of Bucks County." I encourage you to be inspired and remain active members of your parish. I have one request, that is, please invite family members and neighbors who live in the parish to be active members of our parish, as you are. Be assured of my prayers for you each day. I am privileged to be your Pastor.

Father Mike
